  3. Informed Consent & Ongoing Consent

    • Receive clear, plain-language information about the nature and scope of services offered (therapy, assessments, telehealth, data/record-keeping, third-party communications, etc.).

    • Have the opportunity to ask questions and to give—or decline—consent.

    • Be re-consulted if the scope of services changes, or if you prefer to review consent over time.

  4. Privacy and Confidentiality

    • Have personal and sensitive information collected, recorded, stored and disposed of securely and confidentially.

    • Know who has access to records, under what circumstances, and have control over who you allow to see your information (subject to legal and ethical limits).

  5. Safe Therapeutic Boundaries

    • Work with a practitioner who maintains clear, professional boundaries, is transparent about dual relationships and avoids conflicts of interest.

    • Understand limits of confidentiality (e.g., when there is risk of harm, mandated reporting, or legal obligations), and have these explained to you.

  6. Collaborative, Person-Centred Care

    • Participate actively in decisions about your therapy or assessment goals, methods, and pace.

    • Have the right to voice preferences, concerns or to request changes (e.g. different modalities, pace, inclusion of support persons, breaks, accessibility needs).

    • Feel safe to express cultural, identity or neurodivergent needs without fear of discrimination.

    • Have needs related to accessibility, sensory differences, communication styles, identity or cultural safety respected and accommodated.
